Learning to blow a nose

Brendan is learning to blow his nose by himself (really he is learning to do a lot of things by himself!) But because I have been kind of lazy and he has had to blow it so much and I don't want to have to walk into the bathroom for just a little blow...I have been telling him that he can blow it on his blanket. Really not a whole lot of snot comes out and I wash his blanket enough that it really shouldn't gross anyone out.
So yesterday he was looking around for his blanket to blow his nose on. It wasn't within sight, but the throw that goes on the couch was! I could just see the wheels turning in his little head...not my blanket, but a blanket. He ran over to it, picked it up away from the couch, and was just about to blow when I caught him and ran into the bathroom for a tissue. I guess I need to be better at teaching him the right way instead of the lazy way. But it made me smile. I love it when my kids do that.

Bye Eliza

The other morning Eliza started to cry in her bed. I was really tired and just hoping that she would somehow put herself back to sleep and not wake Brendan up in the meantime. Well, Brendan woke up. He gathered up the neccessities--his blanket and ka-chow water bottle and headed for the door. Before he left he turned towards Eliza and said "Bye, Eliza" and then came into my room to try and find some peace and quiet to finish his night sleep. Needless to say this just ticked her off that she was stuck in her bed still. It just made me laugh! At least I was smiling...and rolling my eyes...when I got up that morning! I love my kids even if they take away from my sleepful nights.
